Special Hobby 1/72 DH Hornet F1

Just to prove that I do build something else occasionally, this is my model of the Special Hobby 1/72 scale DH Hornet F1. After doing a number of commissions builds I found that I needed a bit of a break and therefore, decided to do something simple just to keep me motivated. I hadn't built a 1/72 scale aircraft kit in decades and although it reminded me of the Airfix and Frog kits of my youth, it was in reality nothing like them. Although the kit Includes a number of resin and etch parts, its only saving grace is that there is a lot more plastic available to you than there needs to be, which means you can carve and file the parts to your hearts content, until everything fits. The model was undercoated in Tamiya surface primer (L) and sprayed with Games Workshop, Mithril Silver, which is a very close match to RAF high-speed silver. The control surfaces were sprayed with a 2:1 mix of Mithril Silver/Bleached Bone to give them a slightly weathered look. The best part of the entire kit is the decals, which are super thin and go on without a problem.
