The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum

WOW! This is not an exclamation I use very often when visiting a Museum and it's usually reserved only for those that make a real impact from the moment that I step in the front door. This is truly an amazing collection of armoured vehicles, artillery pieces and display items and is easily comparable to anything I have seen overseas. Although it's not located near a major capital, Cairns is only a 3-4 hour flight away, with the museum being a short drive from the airport. The museum makes good use of natural light and everything is well positioned within, making photography that much easier. The museum is also due to undergo a further expansion in the coming year to make space for several new exhibits that have yet to arrive, therefore a visit in the next year or two should be a must and is something that I'm already seriously considering.
